Hotel Description
Blackbrook Farm offers comfortable self-catering accommodation on a 74-hectare working farm, situated just 8 km from Underberg on the Bushmans Nek Road. Guests can enjoy a relaxed country getaway, but still be close enough to enjoy the attractions of the Southern Drakensberg.Accommodation is offered in 2 cosy, stone-clad, thatched cottages tucked away on a private portion of the farm. The self-catering cottages are pet-friendly and comprise well equipped kitchens, open-plan lounge and dining areas, patios, and braai facilities (bring your own firewood/charcoal). The cottages each have their own fully fenced garden.
There are wall panel heaters in the bedrooms, extra blankets and hot water bottles for those cold winter nights. There is a portable gas heater/cottage but please note that there is a surcharge for gas over and above the accommodation cost (or guests may bring their own 9kg gas bottle). There are no fireplaces inside the cottages.
The kitchens have a 4 burner gas stove with oven/grill; microwave; kettle; toaster, fridges and a good range of cutlery, crockery and quality pots/pans. Bed linen (down duvets) and large bath towels, cleaning materials and toilet paper are supplied.
Both cottages have flat screen TV's and DStv Premium channels.
The farm dam is stocked with trout and bass. Fishing in the dam is permitted on a catch and release basis. Kayaking, walking and mountain biking can also be enjoyed, or you can pop into one of the villages for a meal or shopping.
The last 4km is a district dirt road and a short farm road to the cottages. Guests please note that the dirt roads are a challenge for small/low clearance vehicles - it is possible, but the farm road will need careful negotiation. It is not advisable to arrive in a car that is fitted with low profile tyres.
