Chanteclair Guest House is nestled in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley. Just 75km from Cape Town City centre, historical Franschhoek is one of South Africa’s oldest settlements. The main house at Chanteclair is a tastefully converted farmhouse, situated in an exquisitely landscaped and tranquil garden setting, offering luxurious accommodation and delicious breakfasts. A walk through the fragrant gardens and orchard and on up to the top of the vineyard offers panoramic views of the Franschhoek Valley and an opportunity to see the diverse local bird life. The Franschhoek Valley is renowned for wine making and at Chanteclair we produce our own Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc and Malbec.Franschhoek is surrounded by majestic mountains and the views from the front stoep (verandah) and terraces are outstanding. These magnificent mountains provide a superb backdrop for a glass of wine in the evening, before heading into the village to dine at one of Franschhoek’s many highly acclaimed restaurants. Chanteclair is a few minutes from the centre of Franschhoek, known as the gourmet capital of South Africa.
The main house has four double or twin rooms and two separate detached units, namely, Vine Cottage and The Studio. The rooms in the house are named after the trees adjacent to them in the garden, Jacaranda, Cork Oak, Prunus and Syringa. All our rooms are en suite, some have a fireplace or under-floor heating and all have superb views either to the vineyards or the mountains.
