Beyond Urban's cottages were the first structures to be built on the Misty Mountain Farm in 1980. Initially, these were constructed for labourers who worked on the farm, but they have now been restored to our relaxed rustic cottages.The inhabitants of these quaint cottages worked on the original dairy farm that was located on the site. The farm workers used to start work at 4 am with their daily chores that included; milking the cows, feeding the calves and ensuring the mielie fields are in good standing. Being part of such a small community would ensure that plenty of daily laughs and stresses were shared amongst the workers. Today, we aim to honour this strong sense of community by having cottages that have a central focus and limited privacy. Additionally, a boma will ensure that night times are pleasantly spent around a fire, staying true to the South African culture.
On-site facilities include a mashie chip-and-wedge golf course, foot golf, Black Bass and Kurper fishing (bring your own equipment), and mountain bike routes for those wishing to bring along their bikes and enjoy cycling through the plantations (permits available from reception). We also boast seasonal whale and dolphin viewing at the lookout point at Misty Mountain Reserve which is within walking distance from the cottages. At Misty Mountain Reserve, one can also enjoy walks and guided hikes, our friendly staff at reception will assist you in pre-booking, essential for these activities.
Our sister company, Tsitsikamma Adventure Land, is situated nearby on the N2 and offers safe and exciting quad bike tours through the Tsitsikamma forest. These tours are guided by their fantastic and experienced guides and promise to be fun for everyone. There are many exciting adventures in the surrounding areas, make sure you don't miss out!
